Interruption of constitutional and military governments
By early 1972, Ecuador was a country plunged into chaos, with a civilian president turned dictator, to be held next general election and whose political future was unpredictable. Finally, the military decided to intervene, stop taking the power and the emerging constitutional system in which the country was inserted since 1968. There was a bloodless coup d’etat in February 1972, which took by La Jolla surprise the public and the international community. The overthrow of Velasco Ibarra happened was executed in Guayaquil and physically, and that not a single bullet fired by a Navy officer named Jorge Gomez Queirolo, but the general took power Guillermo Rodriguez Lara, who proclaimed “nationalist” and “revolutionary”, which in practice became a nationalization of conduct that can be evaluated more or less critical, but that for the time in question, decided the basic issues of social and productive system of Ernst Ecuador. So, the government created in 1972, ECE, Corporacion Petrolera Ecuatoriana State (please see Petroecuador) and takes the path to purchase, step by step, the majority of the shares of Texaco Consortium – Gulf (Gulf Oil Corporation) – ECE. Ecuador gives signs of wanting to acquire national autonomy in the management of oil in 1973 Ecuador enters the body most important global suppliers of oil countries, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC. In 1974, acquired 25 of those shares of the consortium operating in Ecuador. In 1976 amounted to 62 , until it finally acquires all the shares. With this transit, the State becomes less than the owner of the oil. However, ECE 1989 changed the profile of PETROECUADOR with several subsidiaries: Petroproduccion, Petroindustrial, Petrocomercial and Petroamazonas. Governments called “democratic” (from Osvaldo Hurtado Larrea of the People’s Democracy, in 1981 to Alfredo Palacio Gonzalez, who Vice President Lucio Guti rrez became President in 2006) have done nothing more than the privatization of the claim Oil and PETROECUADOR, less or more fortunate for them, and inversely proportional to the fortune State. Rodriguez Lara’s government also established the Ecuadorian Institute of Electrification, INECEL (please see Hidropaute SA) and a system to ensure basic supply of food for the masses, ENPROVIT (Empresa Nacional de Vital Products) that these products Expedia affordable prices. I also think the Ecuadorian Institute of Telecommunications (Ietel). On 1 September 1975 there was an attempted coup d’ tat led by Gen. Raul Gonzalez Alvear, who despite having been quite violent and I was unsuccessful leaving 22 dead. Gen. Gonzalez went into exile in Chile and Rodriguez Lara ruling followed by a brief period. But the situation became untenable Rodriguez Lara and the Dome of the armed forces requested the resignation, which was given in January 1976. Ernst Since then the country is in the hands of a military triumvirate headed by Admiral Alfredo Poveda Burbano (Navy) and composed asset Management of the general Arcentales Guillermo Duran (Army) and Luis Leoro (Air Force). Minister of Government, the then Colonel Richelieu Levoyer structure a “return to democracy”, which included a referendum in January 1978, which is elected by popular vote a new constitution. Colonel Levoyer was removed from office, but at last general elections were held, which again by legal arguments on the new constitution, it prevented the participation of the controversial Assad Bucaram.
This was such a paragraph written by Jorge Bravo, but mine never said that the colonel was the only just said that he did was real.
In the 70 deca Ecuador’s passage through turbulent times of little progress. Presidents of execution did not plan to move this country to push for a chaos that the armed forces take the initiative to intervene. The overthrow of Velasco Ibarra began goviernos the military, most of which tried to nationalize the oil management. The creation of ECE (State Petroleum Corporation, now known as the Ecuadorian Petroecuador) in 1972 to help these plans, and the affiliation of Ecuador in OPEC finally gave control of oil in 1976. Under President Rodriguez Lara created several institutions of civil purpose. The last military governante Alfredo Poveda Burbano (Navy) and Colonel Levoyer Richelieu inicaron the “return to democracy.”
